Frie Vilje: Embarking on a Troll Hunt in Maribo

Frie Vilje

During our visit to the Knuthenborg Safaripark and exploration of the captivating Dodekalitten in Lolland, an exhilarating adventure unfolded right before us. While searching online for other attractions in the area, I stumbled upon something intriguing—a mysterious presence lurking in the nearby neighborhood—a mischievous troll! Without a moment’s hesitation, we made the decision to embark on a thrilling troll hunt.

Nestled within the enchanting confines of Maribo, a delightful small city, awaited our coveted target: Frie Vilje (Free Will), a troll skillfully crafted by the renowned artist Thomas Dambo.

Our pursuit led us to Bangshaveskoen, a tranquil haven located near the esteemed Friland Museum (De Gamle Huse) and the Hylddalen Amphitheater. With our hearts racing and eyes brimming with anticipation, we ventured forth into this natural sanctuary, eager to unveil the hidden dwelling of Frie Vilje.

Standing an impressive five meters tall and adorned with intricately designed bird boxes, this extraordinary creature stood proudly among the trees, serving as a testament to the power of imagination and the artistry that brought it to life.
