Copenhagen’s Botanical Gardens – welcome spring surrounded by flowers

Botanical gardens in Copenhagen

With the spring approaching and the sudden appearance of the sun from behind all the rain clouds, the plants everywhere started to come back to life and bloom. And what is the better place to experience the flowers-covered garden than visiting botanical gardens?

The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen is just a stone’s throw away from Nørreport Station and is the biggest garden of such kind in Denmark. It moved twice, before it finally ended up in its current location in the 1870s. More than 13000 species of plants and trees from all around the world grow in the area, providing an idyllic escape from the busy city. In the middle of the park, there are historic glasshouses and Palm House dating to the 19th century.

The gardens are free for everyone to roam around and enjoy beautiful nature; there is, however, a small entrance fee to see the insides of the Palm House. Interestingly, there is also a butterfly house open during the summer months, but I only saw commercials, and it is still on my to-do list.

You can either purchase a ticket just to Palm House (60 DKK) or buy a Parkmuseerne ticket, comprising six museums in the area. Check this link for more info.
